Exemption from Preparatory School | Yabanci Diler Yüksekokulu

Students who receive 60 points or above from the Proficiency Exam at the beginning of the Fall semester will be exempted from the Preparatory Program and begin their studies in their departments.
The maximum number of English Proficiency Exams that preparatory students may take within one academic year has been set at 5, with 3 of these available to take at the beginning of the academic year.

The first Proficiency Exam a student takes is free of charge. Each subsequent exam attempt is subject to a fee of 3000 TL. The End-of-Year Proficiency Exam and the Summer School Proficiency Exam are free of charge.

Students who submit proof of having obtained a minimum score of 60 on the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (YDS) administered by ÖSYM, as well as those who have achieved the minimum scores indicated in the table below from English language exams recognized as equivalent to KPDS-ÜDS-YDS in the ÖSYM Foreign Language Exam Equivalency Table (such as CPE, CAE, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic), will be exempted from the Preparatory Program and may directly begin the first year of their respective programs. TOEFL Home Edition is not accepted for exemption from the English Preparatory Program. The minimum required scores and validity periods of English language exams for exemption from the Preparatory Program are specified in the table below.
Ceritificates are accepted at the beginning of the academic year during student registration. Except for the YDS/e-YDS exams administered by ÖSYM, the results of other external exams (CPE, CAE, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic) to be used for exemption must either be submitted to the University (School of Foreign Languages) in a sealed and stamped envelope or sent directly by the authorized exam centers to the e-mail address ydyo@ostimteknik.edu.tr.
